A little less than a month from now Team USA is going to dominate the Sochi Winter Olympics and look good doing it!
Created by NIKE, the 2014 Olympic gear is designed to battle the extreme elements of a Russian winter and keep our athletes warm as they stand on top of podium. It gets cold way up there.
As an added bonus for laypeople and Olympic hopefuls, the gear is also designed for maximize performance. Meaning you can ditch the lumpy and bulky snowboarding gear for a slick style looks like something out of Shaun White or Lindsey Vonn’s closet.
I recently had an opportunity to try on / checking out the new Olympic gear and it’s impressive! Check back every Tuesday through the Olympics for a closer look at the items below and a few others.
Aeroloft 800 Summit Jacket ($450)
Probably the most tech-ed out piece of gear in the kit, the Summit Jacket uses titanium nano-coating to reflect UV and retain body heat and the insulation system – yes, system – includes laser cut holes to maximize ventilation, while 800-fill down is based on body mapping research for mobility.
Flyknit Trainer Chukka FBS (Special Field Boot) ($TBA)
Tech Fleece Cape ($110) and Victory USA Scarf ($75)
Crafted for women, the exaggerated dropped back hem and scarf will look good on the podium or with a mug of hot chocolate. Using a new tri-layer fabric, the Tech Fleece provides increased range in motion and lighter weight warmth than its predecessor.
A limited selection of the Team USA apparel is available on Nike.com but stay tuned as they’ll be releasing more of it in the coming weeks. Aeroloft Summit Jacket is available now and the Flyknit shoes will be available in February.
